Professor Corey Harrison Wins WSOP Event #24 For $432,411

Professor Corey Harrison Wins WSOP Event #24 For $432,411Corey Harrison has won WSOP $1,500 No Limit Hold’em (Event #24), after besting a field of 1,731 players over three days to capture a bracelet, and collect the $432,411 first place prize.
Following his victory at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the 36 year-old college professor commented: “I’ve been playing ten years. I’ve been so close many times, cashing in WSOP Circuit events, and making final tables, but I had not gotten over the hump. This was the first time to get over that hump. This is the best venue in the world to get over the hump.”
The $1,500 NL tournament drew a good sized field of both amateur and pros alike to create a prize pool worth $2,336,850. Amongst the notable names cashing in at the event was Jeff Madsen in 123rd ($3,178), Steve Zolotow in 92nd ($3,552), Rob Salaburu in 70th ($5,211), Paul Wasicka in 31st($10,328), Shannon Shorr in 30th ($10,328), Victor Ramdin in 22nd ($12,618), Arkadiy Tsinis in 19th ($12,618), and Kevin MacPhee in 18th ($15,586).
It would then take Corey Harrison a further 10 and a half hours to make it past the final table of nine and eventually defeat Daniel Cascado heads-up. In the last hand of the tournament, Corey Harrison (As-7s) went all-in preflop and was called by his opponent holding Ks-10c. The board subsequently rolled out Ad-Js-4s-6d-Jh, to relegate Daniel Cascado to a runner-up finish worth $267,452, while Corey Harrison was crowned the WSOP Event #24 champion.
