WSOP And WSOP.com Integrated Ahead Of Showcase Series
May 19, 2014 5:34 pmThe 45th annual World Series Of Poker is set to kick-off at the end of this month, and ahead of the showcase event in Las Vegas the annual pre-WSOP conference call announced that its online poker website WSOP.com will be fully integrated to complement this year’s 65 bracelet events.
Although Ultimate Poker was Nevada’s first internet poker site to launch in April 2013, WSOP.com which followed suit in September has since grown to account for two-thirds of the state’s igaming market. Currently WSOP.com with an average of 95 cash-game players at any one time boasts almost double the traffic of its nearest rival Ultimatepoker.com. Despite the relatively low traffic numbers, however, the website is expecting a significant uptick in traffic between May 27th and July 7th when the World Series Of Poker is in full swing.
Amongst the number of changes announced during the annual WSOP media conference on May 13th is the ability of players to make online deposits at WSOP.com via the Rio All Suites Hotel & Casino’s cashier desk, complete with a 100% deposit bonus up to $1,000,. The players will likewise be able to make withdrawals at the same cage.
Satellites at WSOP.com are another welcome addition to this year’s WSOP, with customers able to win seats through to braceleted tournaments the day before the events begin, including the showcase $10k Main Event.
In addition, the Rio’s Pavilion Room will be transformed into a “Grind Room” complete with computer terminals and WiFi in order to provide live players the opportunity to take part in some internet action when not competing at the live tables. Players will also be permitted to use their laptops, tablets, and mobile devices while competing at live WSOP events, although only after the money bubble is reached.
Finally, the WSOP was keen to stress it was working hard to “bring the fun back” into the WSOP tournament series, and this year a number of pre-event spectacles have been organized, including a frisbee throwing dog show.
Commenting on the upcoming 45th WSOP, reported Lee Davy from calvinayre, stated: “They believe there will be more people than ever, and as such have increased the number of cage windows and personnel. They also made a point of stressing the importance of bringing the fun back into the game and talked about the Rio’s new zip line attraction, new chairs, and a whole host of pre-tournament festivities designed to keep the players occupied.”
