WSOP 2015 Main Event: Day 3 Winners And Losers

WSOP 2015 Main Event: Day 3 Winners And LosersOn Day 3 of the 2015 WSOP Main Event 1,796 hopefuls returned to the action at the Rio All-Suite Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, but by the end of the day just 661 players remained, with those eliminated in places from 1,000th to 649th receiving a cash payout of $15,000.
Losers
As is traditional, the Main Event’s bubble boy was awarded a $10,000 consolation entry through to next year’s competition, and this year after two players busted out in 1,002nd position, that dubious honor belonged to Roy Daoud who cut the pack and found a Jd to beat Jonas Lauck’s 7c.
Amongst the notable pros eliminated on Day 3 but receiving a cash payout was Cliff Josephy (956th), Faraz Jaka (785th), Adrian Mateos (750th), David Benefield (725th), Scotty Nguyen (713th), Jeff Gross (692nd), and Kevin MacPhee (663rd).
Winners
Day 3 began with Amar Anand on a 603,500 stack and by the end of play he had managed to grow his stack further to 1,139,500 chips to maintain his position atop the chip counts. Anand is followed closely behind by top pros Joseph McKeehen (1,052,000), Brian Hastings (1,034,500), and Fedor Holz (994,000).
Five former WSOP Main Event champions are also still in the running, including 1993 winner Jim Bechtel (photo) on a 575,000 stack, flowed by Joe Hachem (414,500), Phil Hellmuth (170,500), Ryan Reiss (143,500), and Jonathan Duhamel (53,000).
Other notable pros still in contention include David Kitai (121,000), JC Tran (136,000), Vitaly Lunkin (244,500), Pierre Neuville (299,000), David Sands (328,000), John Racener (338,500), Andre Akkari (422,000), Daniel Negreanu (444,000), Dan O’Brien (451,000), Fatima De Melo (453,500), Toby Lewis (502,500), Men Nguyen (503,500), Matt Glantz (581,000), and Christian Harder (681,000). UK pro Jake Cody also made the rub, after which he tweeted:
“It’s taken until July and the very last event but I’ve finally cashed a WSOP event after going like 0/18 this summer!! feels so good!!! Made day4 of #WSOPMainEvent with 355,500 after a v swingy day.”
Day 4 of the Main Event is due to get underway later today, when the remaining 661 players continue their quest to become a 2015 WSOP’s November Niner, and move a step closer to the tournament’s $7,680,021 first place prize.
