WSOP 2013: Steve "gboro780" Gross Wins $5k Six-Handed PLO
June 26, 2013 12:16 pmSteve Gross has won WSOP $5,000 Six-Handed Pot-Limit Omaha (Event #41), after besting a field of 400 players over three days on his way to capturing a gold bracelet, and collecting the $488,817 first place prize.
The US pro is one of online poker’s greatest players having earned an incredible $6,264,274 playing under the screen name “gboro780”. With his latest victory at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas, Gross now also gives his live earnings a boost to $1,368,087 and commenting on what the win means to him, explained:
“It’s not about validation. I don’t care what anyone else thinks of me. I care about my own results and I judge myself on that basis. I’ve been disappointed not to have a big live result up to now, so this feels great.”
WSOP Event #41 attracted a small but talented field to create a prize pool worth $1,880,000. Amongst the notable names cashing in at the tournament was Juha Helppi in 36th ($10,960), Daniel Negreanu in 34th ($10,960), Shaun Deeb in 26th ($12,896), Sorel Mizzi in 16th ($19,646), and Yevgeniy Timoshenko in 7th ($44,574).
At the final table of six, Steve Gross then proceeded to get heads-up against Salman Behbehani, albeit at a 3.5 million to 2.5 million disadvantage, before overcoming his fellow US opponent over the next 42 hands to claim his first career WSOP bracelet.
“I’ve envisioned myself being in this moment. But to actually be here is just surreal” said Gross.
