WSOP 2013: Isaac Hagerling Wins $3k NL Mixed Max (Event #27)

WSOP 2013: Isaac Hagerling Wins $3k NL Mixed Max (Event #27)Isaac Hagerling has won WSOP $3,000 No Limit Hold’em – Mixed Max (Event #27), after defeating a field of 593 players over three days to capture a bracelet, and collect the $372,387 first place prize.
The US player has been cashing in at live tournaments since 2009, and now boasts $560,561 in winnings. Following his latest victory at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, a modest Hagerling commented: “This tournament had a lot of play but there is still a huge amount of variance in it. I don’t think it proves anything that I won this one. The money means a lot though.”
A whole slew of pros were attracted to WSOP Event #27 to create a prize pool worth $1,618,890. Amongst those cashing in at the tournament included Jason Mercier in 63rd ($4,694), Tommy Vedes in 56th ($5,666), Chris Moorman in 51st ($5,666), Daniel Negreanu in 49th ($6,475), and Erick Lindgren in 45th ($6,475).
The final table, too, provided a showcase of poker talent, including the likes of Jason Koon, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Jeremy Ausmus and Brandon Cantu. Eventually, Isaac Hagerling would reach the heads-up phase of the competition against 2012 WSOP bracelet winner Max Steinberg, with both players fairly even in chips.
Steinberg had then gained a slight lead over his opponent when he was dealt A-K and managed to get Hagerling (K-10) to commit all his chips on a K-7-3-5 board. Fortunately for birthday boy Hagerling, a 10 fell on the river to hand him the enormous pot and soon after Steinberg was eliminated in a hand holding A-6 to Hagerling’s A-8.
The final table payouts were as follows:
1st: Isaac Hagerling – $372,387
2nd: Max Steinberg – $231,501
3rd: Jeremy Ausmus – $132,748
4th: Jason Koon – $132,748
5th: Yevgeniy Timoshenko – $51,561
6th: Dan Healey – $51,561
7th: Chris Johnson – $51,561
8th: Brandon Cantu – $51,561
