WSOP 2012 Final Table Now Longest In History As Three Still Remain
October 31, 2012 11:24 amOn Monday night, the October Nine returned to WSOP Main Event Final Table and played down to just three contenders after seven and a half hours of play. Then on Tuesday, with blinds starting at 300k/600k and a 75k ante, the players lined-up as follows:
Greg Merson 88,350,000
Jesse Sylvia 62,750,000
Jake Balsiger 46,875,000
No one was expecting a quick finish to the proceedings as past Main Event final tables have shown us. For instance, in 2009 it took 17 hours and 16 minutes to crown a champion, which happened to be the longest in WSOP history. Then Joe Cada also set the record for the youngest ever winner of the competition.
However, both those records are there to be broken after this year’s Main Event table reached the 10 hour mark on Tuesday and 17.5 hours overall. Even as the action shows no signs of abating, the WSOP twitter site officially announced just a few minutes ago; “At 365 hands and counting, this is now the longest WSOP Main Event final table in history.”
Jake Balsiger could also still become the youngest player ever to win the title, with the blinds currently at 800k/1.6m with a 200k ante, and the three competitors currently stacking up as follows:
Jesse Sylvia 91,400,000
Greg Merson 70,200,000
Jake Balsiger 36,600,000
Each of the finalists are already guaranteed at least $3.8 million, but all have, instead, got their sights set on the $8.53 million first place prize and a place in the WSOP history books.
