WSOP 2012 Day 6: Main Event Winners And Losers
July 16, 2012 12:47 pmDay 6 of the Main Event started with 97 players which after almost 14 hours of brutal action was reduced to just 27 hopefuls. Moreover, it was a day when the big-name pros remaining fell in their droves leaving a whole slew of relative unknowns heading into Day 7 and a place at the final table.
Losers
The last of the notable names to hit the rail today included Gavin Smith in 96th ($62,021), Erik Cajelais in 86th ($73,805), Vanessa Sebst in 73rd ($88,070), Jason Somerville in 69th ($106,056), David Baker in 56th ($128,384), Sam Holden in 55th ($128,384), Amnon Filippi in 39th ($191,646) and Taylor Paur in 33rd ($236,921).
In addition, it wasn’t a good for Day 3 chip leader Dave D’Alesandro and Day 5 leader Keranen who also joined three of Day 6’s ladies on the rail, including Selbst, Topp (71st) and Zhao (90th).
Winners
Out of the 27 remaining players, 19 are from the USA. Rising to the top of the chip counts, however, is Canada’s Marc Ladouceur on a huge 15.875m stack, followed by Daniel Strelitz (12.79m) and Robert Salaburu (10.915m).
Two ladies are still very much in contention with Norway’s Elisabeth Hille in 5th place (9.77m) and France’ Gaelle Baumann in 20th (5.53m). PokerStars Pro Jan Heitmann tops the three German’s still in with a chance of repeating Pius Heinz’s victory last year.
Finally, also surviving the day’s action is Greg Merson, who has already won a WSOP bracelet and made another final table at this year’s series, along with 2010 WSOP bracelet winner Steven Gee.
The 27 players left are now all guaranteed a minimum of $294,601 and will be back in action starting noon Las Vegas time. They will then play down to the Main Event final table, after which the tournament will take a break until the end of October while we get to know our finalists better.
