WSOP Final Table 2010 Gets Underway Today
November 5, 2010 8:32 pmThe waiting is almost over as the highly anticipated 2010 WSOP Main Event final table is set to resume today at 12 pm PT on Saturday, 6th November.
The nine remaining players will be coming off their 110 day recess to finish what they started when the world’s most prestigious poker tournament got underway back on July 5th.
Then there were 7,319 players who put up $10,000 of their cash in the hope of making a deep run in the tournament and picking up a share of the almost $69 million prize pool.
In total, 747 places got paid with the 10th place finisher Brandon Steven picking up $635,011 for falling just short of the final table. Now the least any one of the ‘November Nine’ can expect to win is $811,823, with a whopping $8,944,138 going to the eventual winner.
Then, of course, there is all the additional fame and fortune which goes with making poker history by taking down the world’s number one poker tournament.
One of the player who has already earned a fair bit of kudos during his poker career is Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, who already has over $8.6 million from live tournament cashes not including his guaranteed payout at this year’s final.
Despite currently lying in 7th position, the bookies have made him third favourite at 5/1 odds, behind chip leader Jonathan Duhamel (2/1 favorite) and second placed John Dolan at 7/2.
Commenting on his chances of winning in the final, Mizrachi said: “I just wanted to get to the final nine to take the pressure off of me. Now we can play some poker when I get back. I like my chances. I’m happy to survive.”
However, the 29 year-old pro will still have to make his way past a final table which also includes such young, promising talents as Jason Senti, Cuong “Soi” Nguyen, Joseph Cheong, Filippo Candio, Matthew Jarvis and John Racener.
