WSOP 2010 Final Latest Results: Duhamel Closes In On Victory

As the final heads-up battle gets underway in Vegas, Canadian pro Jonathan Duhamel is on the brink of making poker history as he begins trying to use his huge 6 to 1 chip advantage over USA’s John Racener to full effect.
If he succeeds in his mission tonight, Jonathan Duhamel will be added to the annals of the most prestigious poker tournament in the world, which includes such recent legends as Scotty Nguyen (1998), Chris Ferguson (2000) and Juan Carlos Mortensen (2001).
Duhamel has been playing poker full time since dropping out of his finance course at the Universite du Quebec. Despite being mainly an online cash pro, Duhamel would also seem to have a flair for poker tournaments too, having cashed in both the 2010 WSOP $1.5k NL Event and the $2.5k NL Event, before the Main Event.
Jonathan Duhamel will now be hoping threes a charm as he goes head to head with John Racener tonight, to determine who will forever be immortalised in World Series Of Poker history.
Whatever happens from now on at the Rio Las Vegas resort, the minimum any of the two players can expect to walk away with is $5.5 million, with a massive $8.9 million going to the eventual victor.
With Duhamel and Racener managing to outlast the huge 7,319 player field to get to tonight’s final showdown, both players must be feeling that their destiny lies in becoming the next WSOP 2010 Main Event Winner.
However, Jonathan Duhamel takes the confidence of a skilled player with an enormous chip lead into the final battle, but also tempered by the temperament of a true professional. Duhamel’s solid approach can best be gleaned by the comments he made going into Saturday’s final table, when he said:
“I’m just going to go there and play my best and not make any mistakes at all. I’m the favorite because I’m the chip leader but that doesn’t mean that it is already done. There is a lot of work to do if I want to win and I plan on working very hard to win it all.
We’d like to wish both players good luck as the action gets underway in just a few short hours at the Rio in Las Vegas.
