Racener and Hughes Break Record for Most Cashes at Single WSOP
July 7, 2017 10:28 amJohn Racener and Ryan Hughes have broken the record for the most number of cashes at a single World Series of Poker, having notched up a total of 15 cashes each. As a result, Hughes currently sits at number 1 on the POY Leaderboard with 758.74 points, followed closely by Racener on 729.92 points.
Ryan Hughes has subsequently amassed $226,845 in winnings from his long list of cashes, with his biggest score being a 5th place finish at Event #63: $1,000 NLHE for $62,785.
John Racener (photo), on the other hand, started his marathon run after finishing Event #3: $3k No Limit Hold’em – Shootout for $6,407, with his latest result coming only last night after booking a 195th place finish at Event #66: $1,500 NLHE for $2,679. Racener’s biggest score occured on June 10th, though, after taking down Event #17: $10,000 Dealers Choice – 6 Handed Championship for $273,962 for a first career gold bracelet. As a result, the 31 year-old Florida pro now boasts $353,886 in live earnings from the 2017 WSOP, and currently sits at 2 on the POY Leaderboard.
Meanwhile, Chris “Jesus” Ferguson has also been enjoying an incredible run in Las Vegas this year, and currently sits on 14 cashes overall. On June 28th, he even came close to capturing a 6th career bracelet, eventually finishing Event #51: $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo Championship for $150,929, and is now at number 4 on the POY Leaderboard with 693.42 points, but with six WSOP events still left to play.
Much further down the leaderboard is Daniel Negreanu with 10 cashes and 541.25 in points, although it would have been a different story had he managed to capture the $50,000 Poker Players Championship title last night. Instead, he finished in 5th place for a $300,852 payday, which was a great disappointment for the PokerStars ambassador who started the final table of six in pole position. Taking to twitter later, Negreanu took the opportunity to criticise how the POY is organized, writing:
“Bitter 5th Place finish in the most fun tourney of the year $50k PPC. 5 days of grinding hard totally disrespected by a shameful POY system.. While I spend 5 days against the worlds best in one event for 180 points, others are racking up min cashes at 40-50 a pop.”
