Introducing The 2010 WSOP November Nine: Part III (Cheong, Dolan, Duhamel)
July 19, 2010 11:48 amConcluding our introduction of the nine celebrated players to reach the final table of the 2010 WSOP Main Event, its time to meet the top three stacks.
7. Joseph Cheong (23.525 million) is a 24 year-old Californian poker pro, originally from South Korea, with a joint degree in Math and Economics, and a B.S. in Psychology.
With nearly three years of online experience behind him and over 10,000 tournaments played, Cheong will certainly be bringing a great deal of poker experience with him to the final table.
Most of his life time poker earnings of $307,772 have come in the online arena, where he plays under the name of “subiime,” although success in live tournaments include a WSOP Circuit win at Harrah’s Rincon for $17,000 in March this year.
Commenting on his WSOP chances, Cheong said: I’m exhausted, but I’m relieved that I’m finally at the final table of the main event. I’m playing to win the whole tournament. I haven’t slowed down on any of the bubbles, though the equity of the November Nine made me think about it. I’m ready to win this tournament.”
8. John Dolan (46.25 million) is a 24 year-old poker pro from Florida with $216,556 in live tournament wins to his name. His biggest live score to date came at this year’s $1,000 WSOP No Limit Hold’em Event, where he placed 6th for $82,804.
Dolan is also a prolific online player where he has amassed a fortune, including $700k in lifetime tournament cashes on Pokerstars and $434k in cashes at Full Tilt Poker.
Clearly delighted to have made it all the way to the final table, Dolan said: “It’s amazing. Obviously you hope for this, but you never expect any of this. It’s just awesome.”
9. Jonathan Duhamel (65.975 million) is a 22 year-old poker pro from Quebec, Canada and is currently the chip leader going forward to November.
Despite only turning pro a year and a half ago, and being mostly an online cash player, Duhamel has still managed to clock up $126,308 in live tournament cashes.
The Canadian used his big stack to devastating effect as the final table waited for the bubble to burst, and the aggressive young player has put himself in pole position to take down the major tournament. As Duhamel explains:
“This is the biggest final table of the biggest tournament of the year and being there [is] nice, but at the same time, I’m about winning. I won’t be happy just to be there.”
Congratulations to all of the 2010 November Nine, and we look forward to seeing them all in action once more come November 6th.
