Dan "Djk123" Kelly On Hot Streak At WSOP 2013
June 13, 2013 12:58 pmUS pro Dan “Djk123” Kelly didn’t let Black Friday get in the way of his lucrative online career and playing from such exotic locations as Malta, Australia, and Costa Rica has managed to advance his online earnings to a remarkable $5,934,750.
However, the young pro is now making waves at the WSOP, too, after recording an impressive 6 cashes in Las Vegas, including WSOP $3,000 shorthanded NL (event#21), where there are currently just 17 players remaining with a $506,764 first place prize awaiting the eventual winner. Excluding event#21, Dan Kelly has already amassed $412,000 in winnings at the 2013 WSOP so far.
Impressively, the young pro now boasts $2,791,317 in live casino earnings, $1,910,386 of which has come from competing at the WSOP. Not bad results for an online pro who once explained about live poker:
“..it’s just very high variance if you’re playing €5K, €10K and high rollers. It’s such a small sample size that it’s so easy to go on a massive downswing. And the traveling, too. There are so many expenses built in that people don’t even consider.”
Dan Kelly entered his first WSOP back in 2010, and cashed a total of four times which included victory at the $25k NL Six Handed event for $1,315,518. Kelly cashed a further 5 times at WSOP 2011, and twice at WSOP 2012, before now recording his largest amount of cashes ever at this year’s series.
However, WSOP 2013 has 62 events and is only a third of the way through, giving Dan “Djk123” Kelly plenty of opportunity to smash his own personal record. Furthermore, at this rate Kelly could end up surpassing even the record set by the record holder Konstantin Puchkov, who last year cashed an incredible 11 times.
