2016 WSOP: Brandon Shack-Harris Wins $10k PLO for $894,300

A total of 400 players entered WSOP Event #51: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed Championship at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas to create a prize pool worth $3,760,000. Three days of action later, and it was Brandon Shack-Harris who would emerge atop of the field to claim a top prize of $894,300, as well as a coveted gold bracelet.
The Chicago pro now boasts $2,620,984 in live career earnings, of which all but $10,912 is accounted for by WSOP cashes. This includes two WSOP bracelets, his first having been won in 2014 at the $1k Pot Limit Omaha event for $205,634, as well as a further seven final table appearances. Commenting on his latest victory, Shack-Harris said:
“This is definitely the most gratifying moment for me in my poker career. All of my friends were here and everything ended perfectly. I’m trying to soak this in a little bit, which is something I didn’t do in 2014.”
The $10k PLO event featured a pro heavy field, and amongst those booking a cash place was Erik Seidel in 60th ($15,113), Mike Matusow in 47th ($17,113), Jason Mercier in 36th ($18,925), Scott Seiver in 26th ($21,456), and James Obst in 10th ($57,160).
At the final table, Shack-Harris then proceeded to eliminate Matthew Parry in 5th ($185,337), and Tommy Le in 3rd ($376,667) to take a 2-to-1 chip advantage over Loren Klein into the heads-up phase of the competition. A week earlier, Klein took down the $1,500 Mixed No Limit Hold’em/Pot-Limit Omaha event for $241,427, and the two would subsequently battle it out for a while before Shack-Harris managed to send Klein to the rail, and lock up the title. Commenting on his opponent, Shack-Harris said:
“Loren’s a special guy, just as I feel I am, in that we both play a fairly unorthodox style. We play some street PLO, and street recognizes street.”
Final Table Results:
1: Brandon Shack-Harris $894,300
2: Loren Klein $552,713
3: Tommy Le $376,667
4: Melad Marji $261,652
5: Matthew Parry $185,337
6: Harley Stoffmaker $133,918
7: Junayed Khan $98,748
