2014 WSOP APAC Main Event Final Table Reached
October 16, 2014 3:30 pmAfter five days of action which included two starting days, the $10,000 WSOP APAC Main Event has reached its final table of six, with all the remaining competitors guaranteed at least $118,769 for their deep run, but with a huge $850,136 top prize awaiting the eventual champion.
A total of 329 players entered the WSOP APAC Main Event to create a prize pool worth A$3.125m (US$2,712,896), and amongst the 36 players to subsequently see a return on their investment was Xuan Liu in 31st (A$21,556), Shane Warne in 22nd (A$23,441), Tobias Reinkemeier in 20th (A$23,441), Brandon Shack-Harris in 17th (A$23,441), Joanne ‘JJ’ Liu in 13th (A$31,880), and Jackqueline Glazier in 12th (A$42,194).
The six remaining finalists are now on a break until Saturday, when they return to the Crown Casino in Melbourne to decide this year’s winner, with the players lining up as follows:
2014 WSOP APAC Main Event
Jack Salter (England) 3,255,000
Scott Davies (USA) 2,210,000
Henry Wang (Taiwan) 1,700,000
Frank Kasella (USA) 1,250,000
Kyle Montgomery (USA) 950,000
Ang Italiano (Australia) 510,000
While the host country will be disappointed to have just one local player at the ME Final Table, Australia’s overall performance at this year’s World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific tournament series (WSOP APAC) has been exceptional. Australia has already won 5 bracelets from 8 events, with just two tournaments, the ME and the $25k High Roller, left to play.
The only other non-Australian players to have collected bracelets in Melbourne this year are Malaysia’s Junzhong Loo who won the AU$2,200 No-Limit Hold’em for $107,500, and Germany’s George Danzer who took down the $5k 8 Game Mixed Event for A$84,600.
