Jack Sinclair Wins Super High Roller in Czech Republic
August 14, 2017 10:48 amJack Sinclair has won the partypokerLIVE German Poker Championship Super High Roller, after besting a field of 28 players, including Tony G heads-up, to claim the title, and a top prize of €350,000 ($413,017.
Only last month, Sinclair reached the 2017 WSOP Main Event final table, eventually exiting in 8th for a $1.2 million payday, and following his latest victory at the King’s Casino Rozvadov in the Czech Republic, now boosts his live career earnings to $1,661,874.
The final table was reached on Day 2 of the €25,000 Super High Roller event, but with only three money places available, Tony G (K-K) eventually sent Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier (A-6) to the rail empty-handed in 4th, leaving just himself, Jack Sinclair, and Steffen Sontheimer left to compete for the title.
Soon after, Sontheimer moved all-in preflop holding A-J, and looked favorite against the 10-8 of Tony G, but the 10-K-6-9-7 board which ensued saw him eliminated in 3rd (€115,000), while setting up the final heads-up phase of the competition between Tony G and Jack Sinclair. At this stage, the duo subsequently agreed to a deal in which Tony G was guaranteed a payout of at least €300,000, and Jack Sinclair €250,000, while leaving €10,000 and the trophy for the ultimate champion.
A tense heads-up battle followed, culminating in the deciding hand in which Sinclair’s K-J was up against the pocket jacks of his opponent, with Sinclair subsequently rivering a king to claim the victory.
Jack Sinclair is an English pro who counts Germany’s Philipp Gruissem and Anton Morgenstern amongst his friends. Gruissem is currently placed 5th on Germany All Time Money List with $10,933,214 in winnings, while Morgenstern is much further down the list with $747,394 in winnings, with his biggest score being a 20th place finish at the 2013 WSOP Main Event for $285,408. As Sinclair explains:
“Spending so much time with those guys, they encouraged me to play live. They helped with some stuff to get started.”
