High Stakes Poker Season 7 Shooting On November 18th
October 24, 2010 7:46 amIt has been announced in the last couple of days that GSN has given the go-ahead for shooting to start soon on Season 7 of the highly popular poker show ‘High Stakes Poker’.
The show’s primary face Gabe Kaplan and co-host Kara Scott, who will be returning for her second season, will be filming from November 18th to 20th with airing expected around February 14th, 2011 (if they keep to the Season 6 schedule).
Although few details have been released concerning Season 7, a GSN representative announced that there would be “another great cast of world-class players this year.”
An informed guess would expect Doyle Brunson, Eli Elezra, Antonio Esfandiari, Barry Greenstein, and Daniel Negreanu to all make an appearance at some stage considering they have taken part in every previous season of the highly popular cash game.
Fans can also expect to see more of high stakes regulars Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius, as well as a host of new faces throughout the season.
In Season 6, players at the $400/$800 cash game bought in for $200k a piece, except Ivey and Dwan who brought half a million dollars with them instead. The show then got off to an action packed start after Phil Hellmuth famously busted out of the show after just one episode vowing to take Ivey for 1 or 2 million in a cash game soon. We’ll see if he manages to make good on that promise.
What fans can expect to see less of, though, will be prop bets which were discouraged during Season 6 and, as Antonio Esfandiari explained at the time; “The bottom line is that he [producer] doesn’t want viewers at home to be bogged down with players prop betting in addition to poker.”
The show will likely air on February 14th, 2011 and run until May 9th.
