WSOPC Rincon Main Event Won By Bryan Devonshire
April 1, 2010 9:10 amUltimate Bet pro Bryan Devonshire has won the World Series of Poker Circuit Rincon Main Event, after defeating a field of 70 players over two days to claim the title and the $114,975 first place prize.
Despite earning over a $1 million from live tournament cashes, this represents Bryan Devonshire’s first major title victory and commenting on his win afterwards said:
“It feels so sweet to finally win one of these main events instead of taking second. I feel like I got a monkey off my back and I’m super stoked.”
Devonshire entered the final table of the $5,000 buy-in tournament third in chips, but it wasn’t until chip leader Wei Kai Chang busted in ninth and Darryn Hardin was eliminated on the bubble in eighth, that the remaining players were assured a share of the $328,500 prize pool.
The first payed player to leave the competition was Daniel Burke in seventh ($13,140) followed by Mike McClain in sixth ($19,710) after his A-7 was badly dominated by Devonshire’s A-8.
Next to fall was Ron Segni in fifth ($26,280) after his Ah 8s push was called by Schreiber holding Jh 8h, who subsequently made a flush on the river. Fourth place and $32,850 went to John Farrell, whose A-8 push ran into Schreiber’s A-K, while Howard Andrew walked away with $49,275 after his third place finish.
As heads-up play got underway, Dan Schreiber held a slight lead but Devonshire’s aggressive style manage to wrestle the chip advantage away from his opponent and set-up a crucial hand where Schreiber lost a massive pot holding top pair to Devonshire’s straight. Devonshire held A-3 and Schreiber held K-Q on the Q-4-2-5-J board, and a few minutes after that hand had been played Schreiber had lost his remaining chips to finish runner-up for a $72,270 pay-day.
In the meantime Bryan Devonshire not only picked up the title, $114,975 in prize money along with a gold ring, but he also was awarded a $10,000 seat at the WSOP main event this summer.
