Shaun Deeb Wins 2014 PCA Open Face Chinese Tournament

Shaun Deeb Wins 2014 PCA Open Face Chinese TournamentShaun Deeb has won the 2014 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Open-Face Chinese event, after besting a field of 53 players on his way to capturing the title, and collecting the $32,380 first place prize.
Following his victory in the Bahamas, Deeb, who now boasts $2,464,203 in live tournament winnings, commented: “It felt great. It’s a lot of fun, these fields. I know a lot of the players from over the years, and we’re all having fun gambling, chatting it up. So it was a lot of fun. I was surprised, people played really well.”
The $2,000 Open-Face Chinese event attracted a small but tough field to create a prize pool worth over $100,000. Among the notable pros entering the competition were such players as Barry Greenstein, Dan O’Brian, and Chris Klodnicki.
Although none of these players actually cashed, the final table was, nonetheless, full of familiar names including Jon Turner, Jason Mercier, Ben Yu, Paul Volpe, and, of course, Shaun Deeb.
After the finalists began hitting the rails, Ben Yu was eventually eliminated in 3rd ($14,900) to usher in the heads-up phase of the tournament, after which he tweeted:
“Got 3rd in the $2k OFC for $14,900. @shaundeeb now begging @paulgees81 for a chop HUHU.”
As the heads-up battle commenced, Shaun Deeb held a sizable chip lead over Paul Volpe and combined with his impressive knowledge of the game, was soon able to defeat his final opponent to claim the victory.
Subsequently, Paul Volpe had only high praise for Deeb’s flawless game, later tweeting: “Lost hu to the master of open face. He hit more royalties hu and plays perfect so it’s hard to beat. Was a fun timby. Congrats @shaundeeb.”
Final Table Payouts:
1 Shaun Deeb – $32,380
2 Paul Volpe – $23,400
3 Yu Benjamin – $14,900
4 Michael Schwartz – $11,320
5 Jason Mercier – $8,740
