Ray Henson Wins WSOPC Oklahoma For $197K
January 14, 2015 11:49 amA huge field of 4,053 competitors turned out for the WSOPC $365 Re-Entry event held at the Choctaw Casino Resort in Oklahoma, in the process smashing the previous World Series of Poker Circuit record set at the 2011 Horseshoe Hammond of 3,001 players. Three days of intense action later, and Ray Henson defeated his final opponent Poker Hall of Famer T.J. Cloutier heads-up to capture an impressive fourth career WSOP Circuit gold ring, as well as collect the $197,588 first place prize.
That figure represents Henson’s second biggest score to date, his largest coming in 2007 when he finished the WSOP $10k Main Event in
12th for a $476,926 payday. It also pushes his live tournament earnings to $1,644,244, and commenting after his remarkable victory, joked:
“It’s the first tournament I’ve won all year.”
By the time the heads-up phase of the tournament was reached, Henson held a 24.9m to 15.6m chip advantage over 6-times WSOP bracelet winner T.J. Cloutier. After a tough final battle, the deciding hand was eventually played when Cloutier with pocket kings decided to push all-in on a J-J-7 flop. Unfortunately for him, Henson was holding a J-Q, and with an A and Q falling on turn and river, TJ Cloutier had to settle for a runner-up finish worth $122,040, while Ray Henson was crowned the winner.
Final Table Results:
1st Ray Henson $197,588
2nd TJ Cloutier $122,040
3rd Ben Perez $88,603
4th Zhengyue Cao $65,136
5th Matt Lawrence $48,308
6th Z. Hammons $36,137
7th Robert Martin $27,273
8th Myles Hamm $20,775
9th Taylor Black $15,928
10th K. McFarland $12,329
