Phil Hellmuth Baits Europeans Ahead Of 2011 Caesars Cup

The Caesars Cup is an biennial event taking place on the sidelines of the WSOP Europe and featuring a series of heads-up and unique partner format poker matches between Team America and Team Europe.
Scheduled to get underway on October 19th, the competition is the equivalent to golf’s Ryder Cup and brings together the poker cream of the two continents with national pride and bragging rights at stake.
When the competition first played back in 2009, Team America was expected to steamroll their European counterparts but in a one-sided affair the Americans then went on to lose 4-1. Two years later and the Americans are now getting geared up for some revenge on their erstwhile opponents, with Team America’s captain Phil Hellmuth having assembled a top tier line-up consisting of Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Daniel Negreanu and Huck Seed.
Sending a good-humoured message to the opposition, Phil Hellmuth said:
“These idiot Northern Europeans think they know everything about the game of poker. Well, we plan to show them that decades of experience are much more valuable than clicking a mouse while sitting in your pajamas. In all seriousness, we look forward to the challenge and the opportunity to return the Caesars Cup to American soil.”
However, if Hellmuth is going to make good on his promise his team will first have to overcome a formidable international Team Europe consisting of captain Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier (France), Jake Cody (UK), Gus Hansen (Denmark), Dario Minieri (Italy) and
Maxim Lykov (Russia).
In a change of scenery from the inaugural Caesars Cup held during the 2009 WSOP Europe in London, the venue has now been changed to Cannes in France, where the competition will be contested at the Hôtel Majestic Barrière.
