Olivier Busquet Beats Dan Colman To Win EPT Barcelona High Roller

Olivier Busquet Beats Dan Colman To Win EPT Barcelona High RollerAn elite field of pros turned out for the EPT Barcelona €50,000 Super High Roller, and after three days of action Olivier Busquet managed to progress all the way to heads-up where he eventually overcame final opponent the 2014 WSOP Big One for One Drop champion Daniel Colman, to claim the title, as well as the €896,434 ($1,188,996) first place prize.
Although Busquet now boasts $5,875,066 in live tournament earnings, the 32-year-old pro’s latest victory was just the second time he has managed to win a live tournament outright, the last time coming in 2009 at the WPT $3,500 Borgata Poker Open which he won for $925,514. Commenting after his impressive win in Spain, Busquet tweeted:
“I won a live tournament 4 the 2nd time in my life today: 50k Euro SHR for over 1M USD in Barcelona beating my best friend HU…fairy tale.. Oh ya and with 8 people left I was all in with A2 vs KK for my tournament life -the flop came K88 and somehow won the hand….sicklife.”
A total of 58 players shelled out the €50,000 buy-in to enter the Super High Roller, and with 19 further rebuys a prize pool of €3,697,155 ($4,952,785) was created. At the final table, Olivier Busquet (A-A) then proceeded to eliminate Dan Shak (A-8) in 8th for €138,600, before picking up A-A again and doing likewise to Morten Klein (A-Q) in 7th (€177,500).
Next, Olivier Busquet sent Sam Trickett to the rail in 5th (€288,400), and after Busquet (5-5) knocked out Vladimir Troyanovsky (A-8) in 3rd, heads-up play got underway between Busquet and Daniel Colman for the EPT title.
As the final battle commenced, Olivier Busquet held a 10.48m to 8.775m chip advantage over Coleman, and the two players subsequently agreed a deal that would see Busquet guaranteed a minimum of €866,434 and Colman €843,066 with a further €30,000 going to the eventual champion. Following a tough heads-up, Busquet was able to reduce his opponent to just 12bb when Colman was all-in with A-K. Busquet made the call with Q-J and after the board rolled out 8-2-2-Q-10 Olivier Busquet was crowned the 2014 EPT Barcelona Super High Roller winner.
