Michael Mizrachi Wins WSOPC Africa For $101,267
February 12, 2013 3:09 pmMichael Mizrachi has just won the WSOP Circuit Africa Main Event, after defeating a field of 116 players on his way to taking down the title, and collecting the $101,267 first place prize.
After his remarkable victory in South Africa, ‘The Grinder’ now takes his live tournament earning to $14,436,188, further consolidating his position at number 8 on poker’s ‘All Time Money List.’ Furthermore, the 32 year old adds a career first WSOP Circuit ring to his two WPT titles and three WSOP bracelets
As the $3,300 Main Event reached its final table of nine, Michael Mizrachi was in pole position as the chip leader and he would eventually eliminate six of his eight opponents on the way to winning the WSOPC Vanderbijlpark title.
Amongst his list of victims was Jarred Solomon, whose pocket jacks ran into Mizrachi’s pocket kings to exit the tournament in 4th for $32,372. He was followed by Markus Feurie in 3rd ($44,565) in a pocket fours versus pocket tens mismatch, to herald in heads-up play between Mizrachi and South Africa’s Karl Myburgh.
Unfortunately for Myburgh he faced a 9 to 1 chip advantage and before long found himself all-in holding A-8 but up against the pocket queens of Mizrachi. In the end the board rolled out a harmless 7-6-10-7-J to relegate Myburgh to a runner-up finish worth $62,590, while Michael Mizrachi was crowned the 2013 WSOP Circuit South Africa Main Event champion.
