Martin Zentner Wins WSOP Circuit Biloxi For $106,455
September 18, 2013 11:59 amMartin Zentner has won the 2013 WSOP Circuit IP Biloxi $1,675 no-limit hold’em main event, after besting a field of 302 players over two days on his way to capturing the title, and collecting the $106,455 first place prize.
Following his remarkable victory in Biloxi, Mississippi, the 27-year-old New Orleans resident, commented: “It feels wonderful. This is by far the biggest score I’ve ever had. It feels unbelievable.”
By the time the main event tournament reached its final table of nine, Martin Zentner was third in chips and would eventually progress all the way to three-handed play against Hank Sitton and the popular TV celebrity from the show Survivor, “Boston” Rob Mariano.
Martin Zentner (K-J) would subsequently eliminate Mariano (J-10) in 3rd ($47,805), to take a slight chip lead against Sitton into heads-up play.
In the final hand, Hank Sitton (A-2) called Zentner’s (A-6) move all in and after the board rolled out K-6-2-K-9, Martin Zentner was crowned the 2013 WSOP Circuit IP Biloxi champion. Commenting after the tournament, Zentner, said:
“It was great having [Mariano at the final table]. He shocked me how good he was. He was definitely a lot better than I thought.”
