Josh Marvin Wins 2015 HPT Soaring Eagle Casino

Josh Marvin Wins 2015 HPT Soaring Eagle Casino Josh Marvin has won the 2015 Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) Soaring Eagle Casino main event, after besting a field of 505 players on his way to winning the title, a silver bracelet, and a first place prize worth $166,565. Commenting on his victory, the Michigan man who now boasts $189,601 in winnings, said:
“I had a rough summer in Vegas. This will help make up for it. I’m very excited.”
The $1,650 HPT Main Event took place at the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, and created a prize pool worth $724,200, with 54 players subsequently seeing a return on their buy-ins.
After the final table of nine had been reached, Josh Marvin eliminated Vinny Ho in 5th for $35,124, whilst his best friend Chris Moon took care of Scott Sisler in 4th ($46,928), and John Skrabutenas in 3rd ($67,495) to usher in heads-up play between the two friends for the HPT title.
There was to be no quick resolution to the final battle, however, and the action would continue for another two hours before the deciding moment arrived in what has been described as “one of the most memorable hands in the tour’s history.” Moon (A-A) called Marvin’s (K-J) preflop three-bet before re-raising all-in on a K-J-5 flop. The 5 on the turn then put Moon ahead with two pair, before a J on the river made Marvin a full-house to clinch the tournament. Commenting on his runner-up finish worth $101,823, Moon joked; “Not bad for a Monday I guess.” In the meantime, Josh Marvin walked away with his first career title, and his fifth tournament cash since 2011.
