Jason Mercier Wins $10,300 WCOOP Event For $253k

Jason Mercier Wins $10,300 WCOOP Event For $253kJason Mercier has just won PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) Event #64: 8-Game High Roller, after defeating a field of 93 players over four and a half hours to scoop the title, and collect the $253,425 first place prize. With his latest victory, Mercier has now taken his online tournament earnings to an impressive $1,559,648.
However, after taking down the $10,300 buy-in event the US pro had no time to sit on his laurels and was soon on his way to the airport and heading to France, tweeting:”Id like to go to sleep, however, I have a flight to Cannes in 3 hours. Gotta pack and head to airport. Wsope plo 5k event at 5 pm #neverstop..First tourney win of 2012… Why stop now? #itaintending.”
Jason Mercier cashed in at his first live tournament back in 2008 and now has $7,869,650 in winnings to his name. The 25 year-old has also earned seven figure sums each of those years, but 2012 had been somewhat of a disappointment for Mercier who recently complained of running bad having earned just $282,280 so far this year, not enough to even cover his tournament entries. As Mercier posted on twitter the other day:
“Really over the ridiculous losses, beats, and #justbadluck that I have experienced at every single point in this wonderful year of 2012..I am very fortunate to be where I am today in poker..This I know. However, this year has been unbearable. Almost any pro poker player..Would be completely broke if they ran like I have run this year.”
Jason Mercier’s latest victory online will now go far to sweetening the Florida pro’s 2012, while giving him a boost going into the WSOP Europe in Cannes. On his way to taking down the WCOOP quarter of a million dollar top prize, Mercier had to first overcome a tough field packed with talent. Many big names managed to reach the 12 paid places, with the final results as follows:
