James "Asprin1" Akenhead Wins The Sunday Million For $213,750

Top UK pro James Akenhead is number eight on the country’s money list, having earned $2,994,779 from live play since cashing at his first tournament in 2005. Counted amongst the 28 year-old’s achievements include a 9th place finish at the 2009 WSOP Main Event for $1,263,602.
James “Asprin1” Akenhead is no slouch online either, and yesterday added another $213,750 to his burgeoning bankroll after taking down PokerStars’s Sunday Million for a massive $213,750 payday.
Around 30 members of PokerStars Team Pro and Team Online joined the $215 buy-in tournament, which attracted a total field of 7,125 players. The three pros managing to cash in at the event were  Greg DeBora (549th), Toni Judet (431st), and Bryan Huang, in 273rd place.
However, it was the Genting Poker sponsored pro James “Asprin1” Akenhead who eventually reached the last nine of a truly multinational final table, featuring two players from Germany, two from Brazil, as well as competitors hailing from Romania, Denmark, Russia, Greece, and of course the United Kingdom.
Akenhead then started the final table third in chips (9,632,687), behind the Romanian chip leader ‘pnp23’ (14,851,131). Incredibly, it was a miss-click by Akenhead (K-10) who re-raised pnp23 (Q-Q) to 8,000,885 instead of 800,855, before the board of K-10-7-9-9 gave Akenhead’s stack a massive boost.
Nevertheless, ‘pnp23’ fought back to make it into the final three alongside James “Asprin1” Akenhead, and Ansgar2000, who then had the following conversation with the Londoner:

Ansgar2000: you are james akenhead?
Asprin1: ya
Asprin1: you?
Ansgar2000: serious?
Ansgar2000: sick
Ansgar2000: you dont play online normally?
Asprin1: no dont play too much
Soon after, Akenhead (A-9) called a pre-flop shove by Ansgar2000 (4-4), who then exited in 3rd ($114,000), heralding-in the heads-up phase between Akenhead (56,844,921) and pnp23 (14,405,079).
Before long, that was all over, too, with James “Asprin1” Akenhead holding K-J to his opponent’s pocket eights, and the board subsequently falling 7-6-5-10-K. After the action was over, James Akenhead later responded to his well wishers by posting the following comment:
“Thx so much to all you sick railers…..Drinks on me nx time I see you!! :-)”
The PokerStars Sunday Million Final Table results were as follows:
1. James “Asprin1” Akenhead (UK) $213,750

3. Ansgar2000 (Germany) $114,000
