Isaac "westmenloAA" Baron Wins Caesars Palace Classic Main Event

Isaac Baron (22) managed to outlast a field of 163 players over three days to win the $5k buy-in 2009 Caesars Palace Classic and earn $246,928 prize money.
The Californian online tournament specialist notched up his second biggest career win after running over a final table consisting of some of the most respected names in the business including  Michael “WatchOutFish” Benvenuti, Glen “choron” Chorny, Alex “Kadabra” Keating, Jimmy Tran, Erik Nomberg,Theo “pittrounder” Tran, Kathy Liebert and Mark Ketteringham.
Baron had a worrying moment after he found himself all-in with pocket 9’s against Theo Tran’s AK and Glen Chorny’s pocket 10’s but a board, which read 7 6 5 3 8, handed him a rivered straight, a 1.7 million pot and the chip lead. Tran was eliminated in 7th while Chorny remained but with just 595,000 chips remaining.
Chorny then got back some of his chips after beating Erik Nomberg’s A 8 small blind all-in with his A 9. Nomberg had to be satisfied with a sixth place finish and $38,106 prize money.
Jimmy Tran was next to go in fifth ($45,728) followed by Alex Keating in fourth as his trip Q’s on the flop were out kicked by Isaac Baron’s similar holding but with a higher kicker. Keating walked away with a $60,970 payday while baron dragged in a massive pot worth 3.2 million.
Before long Baron had eliminated Glen Chorny in third place ($76,213) with an AK v A9 confrontation and was soon playing with a massive lead heads-up against Michael Benvenuti. Baron might have thought he was about to double up his opponent after he called Benvenuti’s A 9 all in with A 7, but a 7 on the flop eliminated Michael Benvenuti in Second Place ($129,562) while handing Baron the 2009 Caesars Palace Classic Main Event title.
Baron latest win of $246,928 has brought his winnings from both live and online tournaments to over $3 million.
