IPT San Remo Won By Ramzi Jelassi

A young 22 year old Swedish poker pro has won the IPT San Remo, Italy, despite being the only non-Italian at the final table, and earned himself 170,000 Euros in the process. Ramzi Jelassi,a Team Pro member at RedKings poker room, showed off his impressive card skills at the €2,000 entry event by beating a field of 370 players despite having a dearth of cards on the last day of the tournament.
Jelassi from Stockholm was able to dominate the competition through typical Swedish aggression and solid play and buoyed by his victory commented: “Easy Game. Had QQ as my best hand yesterday, which I lost, never any AA or KK. Owned them all the way and had a little bit of luck on the final table when I won the important all-in situations.”
Jelassi was referring to a crucial hand played heads up between him and Italian player Andrea Sapere where 90% of the chips were in the middle of the final table with Ramzi holding 44 and Saperes A7. After winning the hand having hit a set on the flop Jelassi was well placed to go on and bust out his opponent two hands later when his K 7 held up against Q 10. Andrea Sapere was able to be proud of his performance and walked away €100,000 richer.

RedKings were obviously pleased with their players victory and Jerry Land, Live Events Manager at the site said: “We know what Ramzi is capable of and this win was definitely on the cards. It is not often a player gets such a golden opportunity as Ramzi had for the final day but he also dominated the Final table with good solid poker in the typical aggressive Ramzi Jelassi style, Congratulations from everyone at RedKings and the rest of the Pro Team!”
In 2005 Jelassi became a full time professional poker player and he has now enjoyed 18 tournament cashes for a total of $672,898 including 1st at the €1,000 World Heads-up Poker Championship event(2006) for $71K, 2nd at the € 2,000 Midnight Sun Helsinki (2006) for $ 66,249, and 1st at the €2,000 EPT – Prague, Prague for $ 165,867.
