Dykhouse Wins Michigan State Poker Championship
October 22, 2014 11:41 amRyan Dykhouse has won the 2014 Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) at FireKeepers, Battle Creek, after besting a field of 517 players over two days on his way to capturing the title, and collecting the $124,500 first place prize.
The $1,100 buy-in $200,000 guaranteed tournament was held at the FireKeepers Casino in Michigan, and attracted a huge field to create a prize pool worth $499,990. Amongst the notable pros then cashing in at the event was Patrick Steele in 46th ($2,000), Dash Dudley in 26th ($2,750), and Jean Gaspard in 16th ($3,750).
After the final table of nine got underway, Ryan Dykhouse then proceeded to eliminate Phung Ngo in 6th ($23,000), before being dealt K-Q and doing likewise to Nick Pupillo (A-Q) in 5th for $28,000.
Eventually, Ryan Dykhouse would then make it all the way to the heads-up phase of the competition where he would face off against Mark Johnson for the MSPT title. As the final battle commenced, Dykhouse held a 2-1 chip lead over his remaining opponent, and Dykhouse would subsequently maintain his lead all the way to the final hand where he would eventually take down the $124,500 first-place prize to be named this year’s Michigan State Poker Champion and MSPT FireKeepers Champion.

The 2014 MSPT’s next event will be held from November 1st to 9th at the Meskwaki Casino in Iowa, with its showcase $1,100 buy-in$300,000 guaranteed Main Event starting on November 7th.
