Chris Brice Triumphs at LIVE UKPC Main Event for £187,500Chris Brice has won the 2018 partypoker LIVE UK Poker Championships £1,100 Main Event after besting a field of 1,076 players over four days on his way to lifting the title, and a first place prize of £187,500.
The 39-year-old English player had just $107,943 in earnings going into the tournament, with his previous biggest score recorded in 2015 after finishing runner-up at the UKIPT Bristol Main Event for £42,300 ($65,908). Following the pinnacle of his poker career, Brice said:
“It’s been such a good tournament; so prestigious. I’m just absolutely delighted. It means a lot to my family and me, and I’m just very grateful obviously to partypoker, Dusk Till Dawn and for running such a great tournament.”
After the final table had been reached, Daniel Clark (9-9) eliminated Ryan Mandara (A-A) in 8th, while Chris Brice (J-J) took care of Daniel Morgan (9-9) in 6th, followed by Thomas Hemming in 3rd to set up the final battle.
At the start of heads-up, Brice held a 67.2 million to 40.4 million chip lead over Clark, but 45 minutes would ensue before the deciding hand was played with Clark (A-K) and Brice (K-K) getting all their chips in preflop. The board subsequently ran out 10-9-3-J-5 to consign Clark to a runner-up finish worth £115,000, although he won’t be too disappointed considering he had just $33,301 in earnings prior to his latest finish.
Meanwhile, top honors went to Chris Brice, who describing his experience at the final table said: “I don’t think there were any obvious weak spots at the final table. I had great respect for all of the players I came up against. I made good decisions and had a good feel for where I was most of the time.”
Brice said that he would now be heading off to Florida to enjoy a well earned break with his family, but was looking forward to playing more tournaments in the future.
