Alex Masek Now A Record 9-times WSOP Circuit WinnerAlex Masek won his first World Series of Poker Circuit event back in March 2009, and since then he has been accumulating gold rings like a gray squirrel collects nuts. The 30 year-old pro had already secured the title for the most number of WSOPC titles after winning a record-setting eighth in March 2014, but now Masek has extended his lead still further, following yet another remarkable performance.
The seat of his latest victory was the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, where Masek overcame a 143 player field at WSOPC Event #7: $365 No-Limit Hold’em to collect his ninth gold ring, as well as the competition’s $12,000 top prize. Commenting on his achievement, Masek said:
“It definitely doesn’t get old. The last three or four times I got heads-up, I lost, so this one maybe actually means more to me than any of my other ones just to be able to finally get back into this spot and win.”
Masek now boasts a total of $1,302,252 in live tournament earnings, $607,288 of which comes from an impressive 47 cashes on the WSOP Circuit. In addition, 2015 has proved to be his most successful year to date with $322,345 in winnings, including his biggest score to date of $211,133, after finishing runner-up to Loni Harwood at the WSOP $10k No Limit Hold’em National Championship.

Talking about his plans for the future, Masek said: “For me for the most part, it’s just about that I don’t like traveling that much for poker. I just play everything in L.A. Whether that is a good $300 or $500 or $1,000 tournament here or the LAPC main, which I’ve played the last five years, or the Legends of Poker main here. For me, it’s just about everything that is good in L.A. I’m going to play and then Vegas in the summer”.
