2016 Aussie Millions: The Story After 10 Events
January 25, 2016 12:31 pmThe 2016 Aussie Millions kicked off at the Crown Casino in Melbourne on January 13th, with its 24 event schedule due to draw to a close on February 1st. With twelve days already completed, ten players have been awarded titles, of which half have been home grown Australian talent. This is the story so far:
Event #1: $1,150 No-Limit Hold’em
Kevin Blackwood (AUS) overcame a field of 1,320 players to collect a top prize of US$192,270, whilst pushing his live career earnings to $201,996.
Event #2: $2,500 H.O.R.S.E.
James Obst (AUS) defeated a small field of 39 players to claim a first place prize of $24,597, and increase his carer earnings to $1,132,108.
Event #3: $1,150 Shot Clock Shootout
Nam Le (AUS) emerged victorious over a 126 player field to claim the $20,726 top prize, and boost his live earnings to $229,965.
Event #4: $1,150 Pot-Limit Omaha
Yuki Ko (Japan) triumphed over a field of 217 competitors to lift the tournament’s $37,382 top prize, which accounts for the bulk of his $50,857 in live earnings.
Event #5: $1,150 Mix-Max No-Limit Hold’em
Gregory Cook (AUS) emerged atop a field of 196 hopefuls to walk away with $35,139 in prize money, and increase his live winnings to $231,886.
Event #6: $1,150 Six-Max No-Limit Hold’em
David Yan (New Zealand) bested a large field of 534 players to claim the event’s $80,491 first place prize. He now has $1,580,139 in live winnings.
Event #7: $2,500 8-Game Mixed
Stephen Chidwick (England) defeated 64 players to claim $32,804 in prize money, and increase his career winnings to $4,449,500.
Event #8: $1,150 No-Limit Hold’em Accumulator
Christopher Soyza (Malaysia) had to manoeuvre his way past a field of 656 players to capture the event’s $102,118 top prize. He now boasts $232,148 in career winnings.
Event #9: $25,000 Challenge
Chance Kornuth (USA) saw off a 122 player field to walk away with the event’s $547,874 first place prize, and boosts his life-time winnings to $3,241,176.
Event #10: $1,650 No-Limit Hold’em Bounty
Brendon Rubie (AUS) triumphed over his fellow 349 competitors to claim an $81,828 first place prize, and increase his career winnings to $1,261,260.
2016 Aussie Millions Continues
There is still another week of action left at the 2016 Aussie Millions, with fourteen more events still left to play. At the moment, all eyes are upon the $10,600 No Limit Holdem Main Event already which is currently two out of three days through its starting flights.
