Online Poker Deal Signed Between Ongame Network And Mohegan SunThe Mohegan Sun in Connecticut has announced it has chosen The Ongame Poker Network to power its’s new online poker offering. The deal is part of the casino’s plan to extend its operation into the online gambling arena with its new play money website www.mohegansun.com due to launch in early 2013. Commenting after the deal was announced,  Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority CEO Mitchell Etess said:
“Mohegan Sun needs a provider who has outstanding regulatory experience and flexibility to offer intra-state play-for-free poker at first, and the technology to enable real money online poker when it is legalized. We are proud to announce that this partner is Ongame.”
The partnership deal between Ongame Poker Network and Mohegan Sun is a landmark first by an East Coast casino operation to move into the online gambling arena. It is, however, seen as an integral part of the Mohegan Sun’s future business strategy, as well as a means to provide even more features for the vast numbers of US and international visitors who are attracted to the casino every year. Highlighting this point, CEO Mitchell Etess explained:
“Our goal is always to provide our guests with the best gaming and entertainment offerings and we believe iGaming is the next step in fulfilling the demand for regulated online play when customers aren’t able to be on property.”
The Mohegan Sun is owned by the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority and first opened its doors in October, 1996. It has since grown to become the second largest casino in the USA, and now has 364,000 sq ft of gaming space offering 6,500 slot machines and 377 table games. It also employs a massive 10,000 local people and in 2007 brought in a whopping $1.62 billion in revenues.
