Delaware iGambling Revenues Down 17.6% In July
August 24, 2015 4:48 pmDelaware’s online gambling market tumbled to $142,083 in July, lower by 17.6% from the $172,496 that was generated in the same month last year. Compared to the previous month, revenues were higher by 30%, although June’s tally of $108,692 was the lowest yet noted by the state’s two year old iGaming industry.
Last month, video lottery games accounted for the lion’s share of revenues worth $75,319, its highest total to date, and beating the previous record of $68,038 reached in April 2015. On the other hand, online table games (blackjack, roulette) plunged by 60% y-o-y to $38,605, and online poker continued to slide, and in July dropped 10% to $28,158 compared to July 2014.
In terms of online poker, the story so far in 2015 is as follows:
January: $27,695
February: $34,526
March: $43,636
April: $48,552
May: $39,245
June: $30,675
July: $28,158
As can be seen, iPoker revenues noted an impressive increase in both March and April following the launch of Nevada’s and Delaware’s shared Multi-State Poker Network (MSPN). By May, however, revenues began to dive once more and July’s result now represents three consecutive month of decline for iPoker.
According to PokerScout, the WSOP Nevada/Delaware network is currently showing 170 cash game players over a seven-day period, and while the data isn’t seperated between the different sites, it is fair to assume that the vast majority of players hail from Nevada.
On a more positive note, new player signups hit 378 in July, its biggest total in 10 months, and 25% more than the previous month. Delaware Park reported 177 new registrants last month, followed by Dover Downs (120), and Harrington Raceway (81). The increase in signups was likely due to the enticing ‘Welcome Bonuses’ currently being offered by Delaware’s three online poker operators, as well a range of new slot themes being added to the site’s gambling mix.
