Delaware iGambling Revenues Up 114% in July

2016 is proving to be a hugely positive year for Delaware’s regulated online gambling market, and last month was no exception with year-on-year revenues soaring by 114% to $304,211 compared to the $142,083 taken in July of 2015. Furthermore, the latest monthly figure released by the Delaware State Lottery was only slightly below the record monthly revenue haul set only the previous month of $304,874.
Producing the lion’s share of revenues in July was online slots which reported a 114% improvement in business to $160,878 versus the same month last year. Online casino games, such as blackjack and roulette, too saw their business soar by 124% to $86,513, while even online poker was in positive territory, posting a more moderate 20% gain to $33,745.
Leading Delaware’s online poker market in July was Delaware Park with revenues of $17,152, representing 51% of the overall market, followed by Dover Downs with $14,429, or 43% of the market. Harrington, on the other hand, ended three straight months of revenue gains in dramatic fashion after seeing its iPoker business shrink by 45% to $2,165 from the peak it set in June. As a result, the venue currently accounts for a mere 6.4% of Delaware’s overall iPoker market.
Delaware Park has maintained its place at the top of the state’s iPoker market since regulated poker was launched back in 2013. April of this year, however, proved the rare exception after Dover Downs briefly captured the top spot from its nearest rival, but the celebration was short-lived when the venue promptly lost its pole position in May.
2015 iGaming Yield
Delaware’s online gaming market generated $1.8 million of revenues in 2015, with online poker accounting for around $400,000 of that amount compared to the $600,000 it produced in 2014. Here are last year’s revenue break-down by month:
January: $132,074
February: $143,101
March: $146,188
April: $132,154
May: $133,697.20

July: $142,083
August: $158,979

October: $182,969
