888poker To Introduce New Rewards Program on March 28th
March 7, 2016 1:57 pm888poker is set to launch “888 Poker Club” on March 28th, which is an overhauled rewards program that rather than promoting a volume, rake based rewards system, will offer players incentives based upon their completing a series of challenges at the various different buy-in levels, instead. Therefore, “888 Poker Club” is designed to divert those reward funds previously allocated to high-volume players towards the site’s recreational players, instead, and as an 888Poker spokesperson explained on the TwoPlusTwo forum:
“The main objective of the new plan is to reallocate the loyalty budget from the heavy grinders to the masses. We want to reward players for other activities, including long-term loyalty to 888poker, rather than only for grinding.”
888poker players will earn a new currency, Gold Tokens, for each level they get through, but they can also level up faster if they complete various challenges linked to the site’s casino and sports betting products. Needless to say, 888poker’s rewards system overhaul will be received kindly by recreational poker players, the poker ecosystem’s life-blood, whose diminishing presence over the past few years has badly damaged the online poker industry.
Likewise, online grinders who recently found themselves discriminated against at PokerStars must now get used to the same treatment at 888poker. Unlike PokerStars, however, 888poker grinders will still have their existing rewards plan honored, while the rewards points they have already accumulated will automatically be converted into ‘Gold Tokens’. As an 888poker spokesperson commented:
“We’d like to assure you that despite these major changes, 888poker will fully honor its cashback commitment to all players, including its VIPs, who are currently entitled to yearly cashback in the existing rewards plan.”
