RIP PokerHeaven: March 2005 to November 2015
November 6, 2015 1:36 pmIn March 2005, PokerHeaven first launched its product online, but after ten years in business the site has now decided to call it quits, citing “increased market regulation across Europe and other environmental factors”. Although the room’s last day of play is schedule for Thursday, November 12th, players will still have until November 19th to withdraw remaining funds from their accounts. Even then, other options will still be available for those customers slow on the uptake, and as a company statement explains:
“After 19th November, [players] will still be able to access funds by emailing support@pokerheaven.com with specific account details.”
PokerHeaven is owned by the Gaming Media Group, and the site originally appeared as a skin on the Boss Media network, before becoming part of the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) in 2014. Like many other ailing poker sites, however, business became increasingly difficult for PokerHeaven after the proliferation of iPoker legislation across Europe, as well as a tendency for countries to ring-fence their markets, including the likes of France, Italy, and Spain. Needless to say, the combination of rising costs and falling liquidity made PokerHeaven’s operation increasingly untenable, and expressing its appreciation for all those customers who supported the site over the years, a company statement explained:
“After ten years as a trusted European poker brand that has focused on enhanced player experience and outstanding customer service, PokerHeaven.com will close on November 12, 2015. We would like to thank all our customers over the years for their loyalty to PokerHeaven.”
While the MPN will be sad to see the closure of Poker Heaven, the network will still continue to maintains its solid position in the online poker world, and currently features 27 skins, including betsafe, OlyBet, Stan James and Bet Victor. According to PokerScouts’ ‘Online Poker Traffic Report’, MPN is ranked the 13th most popular iPoker destination in the world, with an average of 650 cash game players over a 7-day period.
