PartyPoker New Jersey Signs Devils Legend Ken Daneyko

PartyPoker New Jersey Signs Devils Legend Ken DaneykoWhile PartyPoker’s global ring game traffic has slipped to a two-year low of just 1,600 players over a seven-day period, in New Jersey Party Borgata continues to dominate the market with 150 cash game players, with WSOP NJ a fair way back on 110 players over the same period.
PartyPoker’s New Jersey numbers may appear tiny compared to those for the rest of the world, but Bwin.party’s CEO Norbert Teufelberger insists the US iGaming market will continue to represent a “significant business opportunity” for the company.
Back in January, PartyPoker further consolidated its presence in the Garden State by forming a sponsorship partnership with the New Jersey Devils, marking the first such time a deal had been agreed between an online gambling company and a US sports franchise. Following the groundbreaking deal, PartyPoker has now added former New Jersey Devils ice hockey star, Ken Daneyko, to its team of sponsored pros to assist Mike Sexton, Kara Scott, Jamie Kerstetter and Scott Baumstein in further promoting the brand in New Jersey.
Ken Daneyko, 50, is no newcomer when it comes to poker, either, as “Mr. Devil” has already got a poker tournament victory under his belt, a few months ago having overcome a field of 271 players at the WPT Borgata Spring Open $230 Deepstack to take home the $14,000 first place prize. Heaping praise on PartyPoker’s new signing, Mike Sexton, said, “Ken was a fierce competitor on the ice and from what I’ve seen, and he’s even fiercer at the poker table. He is a great addition to the team and will be a great ambassador for online poker in New Jersey.”
Daneyko also has a great deal of experience as a sports commentator, and so we can expect to see him joining the likes of Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten in the commentary box at various PartyPoker sponsored events. Commenting on his new sponsorship deal with PartyPoker, the 3-time Stanley Cup Champion, said:
“I used to get excited at the drop of a puck but now I can’t wait for the turn of the river,” said Daneyko. “Joining Team partypoker with a great champion like Mike Sexton and a great team in Kara, Jamie and Scott makes us the perfect line-up. I love New Jersey, I love poker and there is no better place to play online in the Garden State than on partypoker.com. I can’t wait to play, have fun, win and make new friends online…but mostly win because I love the competition.”
