Ryan "The Card Crumpler" Eriquezzo Disqualified From PARX Poker Main Event

Ryan "The Card Crumpler" Eriquezzo Disqualified From PARX Poker Main EventA curious incident happened at the $1,600 PARX Poker Big Stax last night, after professional poker player Ryan Eriquezzo found himself disqualified from the competition for crumpling his cards following a particularly bad beat in which his pocket aces were felled by the pocket queens of his opponent.
In 2012, a jubilant Eriquezzo won the $10k WSOP National Championship for $416,051 in Las Vegas, but Philadelphia will hold considerably less fonder memories for the pro who following his disqualification, tweeted:
“Thanks to all the scumbags at @parxpokerroom for an awesome event #willneverplaytisshitholevenueagain.”
Apparently, Eriquezzo’s bad beat cost him a huge 200/bb, although he still had 85k chips remaining to play with. At this point, Ryan  Eriquezzo then crumpled his cards and was said to have insulted the dealer, before a tournament committee stepped in to commandeer his remaining stack and ask the American player to leave the tournament area .
Ryan Eriquezzo subsequently called out PARX Poker room ambassador Matt Glantz to address the situation, but unfortunately for him Glantz came out squarely on the side of PARX, tweeting:
“I am being told u were DQ’d for crumpling the cards, throwing the cards, & berating the floor & dealer.. the floor said he would have prob only have given u a 2 orbit penalty if u didn’t threaten to “blow torch the place.”
Glantz’s comments were not welcome by Eriquezzo, however, who replied to the accusations by re-tweeting: “never threatened anything at all. Was swearing bitching etc abt the beat. The floor is now likely trying to cover his ass.”
Needless to say, Ryan Eriquezzo may have lost his initial $1,600 buy-in entry fee, as well as the chance to take down the PARX Big Stax title, but he did at least earn himself the nickname “The Card Crumpler” as a souvenir for his time spent playing in the tournament.
Following his exit, several poker pros have been giving their take on the issue via twitter, and here are a selection of some of those comments:
Matt Glantz
“@realcharder30 @WiLDmAn_75 @RyanEriquezzo actually it’s prob good long term for Ryan. Bet he doesn’t crumple cards again in a big event.”
Matt Salsberg
“@RyanEriquezzo @wildman_75 @jonaswexler @mattglantz DQ’d seems beyond excessive. At most they should give him two orbits and a Xanax.”
Ronnie Bardah
“@RyanEriquezzo @MattGlantz to be Disqualified is absolutely ridiculous! 3 round penalty and 1 month banned would have been more then enuff.”
