PokerStars Welcomes Julian Thew As Latest Sponsored ProOnline’s biggest poker site has just announced that Julian Thew has been signed as Team PokerStars’ latest member and the young pro from Nottingham, England couldn’t be happier.
Thew’s appointment coincides with the Pokerstars UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) which gets underway at the Manchester UKIPT Main Event today. JP Kelly, John Duthie, Vicky Coren and Jude Ainsworth will also be representing the site as the Team PokerStars Pro UK contingency, and following news of his appointment, Thew commented,
“I’m thrilled to have been offered a spot on Team PokerStars Pro and I look forward to promoting the brand on my travels throughout the year”.
Julian Thew turned professional in 2001 and has since become a well liked and respected player on the poker tournament circuit who will undoubtedly prove a great ambassador for the site.
In 2004 he finished ninth at his first EPT event and has since gone on to become one of the most feared players on the circuit, presently appearing at number 12 on the all time European Poker Tour’s leader board with 8 EPT cashes. Julian Thew’s biggest EPT score to date came at the Baden Poker Festival 2007 Season 4, where he captured his only EPT title for a $879,164 pay day.
He has also won another 9 poker tournament throughout his career and has earned more than $2.5 million live career winnings so far. Noted for his aggressive style at the tables, Thew received his nickname after other players noted his chipstack often went up and down like one during tournaments.
