Michael Mizrachi Promotes International Stadiums Poker Tour
July 25, 2012 11:52 amMichael “The Grinder” Mizrachi has just been named as the official ambassador for the International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT), which is due to hold its inaugural poker tournament at London Wembley Stadium from May 31st to June 6th.
The brainchild of Groupe Bernard Tapie, the tournament is expected to attract a massive field of 30,000 players to create a €20 million prize pool with €10 million going to the eventual winner. Wembley Stadium, however, has a seating capacity of 90,000, but explaining the logistics of the tournament a statement on the ISP.com site reads:
“Apart from the on-line qualifications and the live final stage around real tables set up on the lawn of the stadium, ISPT will propose an unpublished game format, midway between on-line and live.”
Given such an ambitious project, Michael Mizrachi would seem a solid choice as an ambassador being as he is one of the game’s most successful players. The 31-year-old Florida native is currently listed as number 7 on poker’s ‘All Time Money List’ with $14,069,764 in earnings. Furthermore, Mizrachi has 2 WSOP bracelets to his credit, the latest coming just a few weeks ago after taking down the WSOP $50k The Poker Player’s Championship for $1,451,527.
Following the news of his deal with the ISPT, Mizrachi wrote on his twitter account: “I just want to announce I will be @ispt_poker official ambassador. Will be one of the biggest tournaments ever held May 31, 2013!”
However, the date the Wembley Stadium tournament is held may overlap slightly with the 2013 WSOP in Las Vegas, which this year took place between May 27th and July 17th. Roughly half of Mizrachi’s live tournament earnings have come from his participation in the tournament series, but with so many events spread over a couple of months playing the week-long London tournament will not concern “The Grinder” overly.
