Ladies Poker Prodigy Vanessa "fslexcduck" Selbst Joins Pokerstars

Ladies Poker Prodigy Vanessa "fslexcduck" Selbst Joins PokerstarsVanessa Selbst is a 25 year-old poker professional from Brooklyn, New York with a WSOP bracelet and around $1,701,529 in live tournament wins to her name.
She is also a prolific online poker winner, who specialises in heads-up no-limit hold’em and relieving her opponents of their bankrolls, when she isn’t being an executive producer and coach at online poker training site DeucesCracked.
Now, the young, female poker whizz has just signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with PokerStars to become the latest member of “Team Pokerstars: Pro”.
Vanessa’s achievements are all the more remarkable when you consider she has been able to balance her poker career with being a student at Yale Law School, and even found the time to be head of the Yale Queer-Straight Alliance for a while. She is hoping to pursue a career in civil rights law when she finishes her studies.
Vanessa Selbst is certainly a precocious talent with many a string to her bow, and despite being one of the most successful players in the game, female or otherwise, she has managed to maintain a moderate anonymity despite her great achievements.
She originally started playing poker at high school, but became seriously interested in online poker in 2004, after researching and reading up on various poker strategy resources. After running an initial $100 deposit into $1,000 then losing the lot, Vanessa learned a valuable lesson in bankroll management and, as she explains:
“I started playing $ 50 no-limit and slowly worked my way up. I had a breakthrough period in the summer of 2005, building an $8,000 bankroll into about $ 75,000 at Foxwoods and online. By the end of 2005, I had a very nice bankroll for $ 10/$ 20 and played mostly cash games. I was always a huge nit about bankroll management and very risk averse, so I never played as high as I probably should have. To this day, I have only rarely played any higher than $ 50/$ 100.”
Vanessa “fslexcduck” Selbst has since gone on from strength to strength, picking up a bracelet at the 2008 WSOP at the $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha event for a $227,933 pay-day. She also placed third at the  WSOP $10,000 World Championship Heads Up No Limit Hold’em, the same year for $108,288.
Vanessa’s most recent win came on the 7th Apr 2010, when she placed first at the NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event and picked up her biggest score to date of $750,000.
There is no disputing the talents of Vanessa Selbst and without a doubt she will prove a very valuable addition to the world’s largest poker site.
