Ladbrokes Poker Signs Boyzone Star Shane Lynch
March 9, 2010 9:53 amIrish pop star and auto racing enthusiast Shane Lynch has just signed a year-long sponsorship deal to represent the online poker room Ladbrokes Poker.
Shane Lynch is perhaps best known as the heavily tattoed member of Boyzone with an outlandish sense of style and extensive body piercings. He also comes from a musical background, with his twin sisters Keavy and Edele Lynch having found fame as members of the popular girl group B*Witched.
As well as music, Shane (33) has always been interested in motor racing and won the Portuguese BMX Championship aged just fourteen. More recently, he has got involved in UK’s fastest growing motorsport called Drifting and has been supported in his endeavours by Ladbrokes, who have associated themselves with the Boyzone band member throughout the UK’s Drifting season.
The British based gambling company have now decided to add poker to their association with the singer and following the announcement of his signing, Head of Ladbrokes Poker Kate McLennan said:
“Shane is the perfect ambassador for Ladbrokespoker.com – he’s a great guy and totally down to earth. We want to show that poker is for everyone. We’re not like other sites that spend huge amounts on poker professionals that their players will never be able to relate to. Ladbrokespoker.com is the site that’s friendly, accessible, where all ages and abilities come together. Poker takes a moment to learn and a lifetime to master. With Shane, we want to show that anyone can give it a go and have fun.”
Shane Lynch’s first experience with poker came just one year ago at the 2008 Ladbrokes.com Irish Poker Festival in Killarney, but he can now expect to become fully inducted into the poker world from playing poker online to competing in live events, such as the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Shane seemed delighted at the prospect of his new poker adventure and commenting on his sponsorship deal said:
“I’d always been a bit intimidated by the poker scene; I’d seen it on TV and found the whole thing a bit baffling. But having spent time with the Ladbrokes players at a few events last year, I’ve seen that you don’t need to be an expert to give it a go. I’m really looking forward to getting into this poker journey, learning more and having some great fun along the way.”
