John Juanda Gets Ripped And Does 20 Pull-ups

John Juanda Gets Ripped And Does 20 Pull-upsJohn Juanda may not have played much poker of late, but he certainly launched himself back in the media spotlight in a big way recently. First of all, on August 24th he booked his first tournament win in over a year after taking down the €5,300 EPT Barcelona Main Event for €1,022,593. The 44 year-old pro with $17,250,677 in winnings then followed up by posting a photo of himself online showing his new ripped physique.
John Juanda lives in Tokyo, Japan these days, and apparently he undertook the fitness drive after having too much to drink at a Christmas party, and making a series of “crazy side bets” with a friend. These included Juanda running the 100 meters faster than his buddy could hop 50 meters on one leg, and as he explained to Pokernews:
“I was king of out of shape when we made the bet, so it helped me get in shape.. He said I’ll offer this bet to you, but it’s a sucker bet, I’m trying to hustle you. But when I thought about it, there’s no way he can hop faster than me running.”
However, Juanda’s 20 pull-ups in six months prop bet probably had the biggest impact on reshaping his physique, as the exercise is not only one of the hardest you can do, but is also one of the best for increasing your back and upper body strength. Furthermore, Juanda confesses to not being able to do more than 6 pull-ups pre-prop bet, and as he explains:
“After two months there was no progress, I didn’t do anything. I decided, you know what, I’m either going to give up or go all out, so I said, ‘You want to press the bet?’ Then we ended up betting bigger, and now I really have to train for it.”
You can see how John “Luckbox” Juanda got on with his running and pull-up prop bets using the links provided, but as the 5-times WSOP bracelet winner has proved many times in the past, when he sets his mind to doing something, he stands a very good chance of accomplishing his goals.
