Jamie Gold Signs As World Poker Fund Ambassador
February 5, 2016 12:43 pmThe World Poker Fund is a poker company backed by American rapper Soulja Boy that is seeking to “bring poker back to the people” via TV, the internet, as well as land-based events. The California-based firm is also working with the WPF Indian Gaming Enterprise Committee to help establish legalized poker and casino operations within the state.
As the organization makes further headway in the industry, it has now announced the addition of a high profile poker player as brand ambassador, namely the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event champion. Jamie Gold took part in the biggest WSOP Main Event ever held in Vegas, eventually besting a huge field of 8,773 competitors to walk away with the tournament’s $12,067,292 first place prize. While that victory accounts for the majority of his $12,446,538 life-time earnings, Gold also scored his second biggest score to date at last year’s WSOP, finishing 5th at the $1,500 NL event for $120,952.
In addition to his careers as a poker player and television producer, Jamie Gold is a keen philanthropist and has apparently raised more than $300 million for charity. Commenting on his latest appointment with the World Poker Fund, Gold commented:
“I am excited to be part of WPFH, and actively involved with seeking strategic partners, the development of various cash and social gaming platforms, along with showcasing our technologies and TV productions through traditional and online channels.”
Gold now becomes the third high profile signing to the organization over the past year, with previous appointments including Martin D. Owens as Chief Advisor of Online and Interactive Gaming, and Mark Grant as Chief Advisor of the Indian Gaming Enterprise Committee. Commenting after the news of Gold’s appointment, Benjamin Carter, Investor Relations of WPFH said:
“Having Jamie Gold join us along with Martin Owens and Mark Grant adds a unique level of talent and experience to our company’s ability and growth.”
