Greek Poker Girl Katerina Malasidou Joins PokerStars Team Online
March 3, 2014 3:17 pmThe world’s biggest online poker site, PokerStars, has just announced the addition of three new members to its team of online professionals, including Matthias “Mati312” Brandner, Luka “LukaSteel” Kovac, and female Greek poker sensation Katerina “Katerina289” Malasidou.
Interestingly, Katerina’s boyfriend, Andre Coimbra, is already a member of the Team Online squad, and after she found success playing hyper-turbos at Pokerstars, Andre was then able to persuade Katerina to leave her job and concentrate on becoming a full-time poker professional. Recently, Katerina says she has been playing mostly $18 and $37 tournaments, although recently she has occasionally dipped in at the $56 and $74 buy-in levels, and in last month turned an impressive $2,800 profitover 2.1K games.
In addition, Katerina “Katerina289” Malasidou is also a prolific poker blogger and last year won the World Blogger Championship of Online Poker (WBCOOP) Best Female Blogger Award. Describing the moment she discovered her application to become a member of Team Online was accepted out of 500 total entries, Katerina, wrote on her blog:
“This is the biggest, craziest, most awesome piece of news that I’ve ever shared with you through my blog… I’M ONE OF THE NEW MEMBERS OF POKERSTARS TEAM ONLINE!!!.. Do I need to say how amazing this is? Two years ago I was starting out in poker and now I’m a member of Team Online! It’s a great honor for me and I still haven’t fully digested it yet. I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming.”
Congratulations to Katerina Malasidou for realizing her dream of becoming a sponsored pro with the biggest poker room in the industry, as well as to the other two new members. Matthias “Mati312” Brandet is an online Badugi and high stakes fixed limit lowball games specialist; while Luka “LukaSteel” Kovac is a former competitive skier who is now a cash game Limit Hold’em specialist.
