Dusty “Leatherass” Schmidt To Join PartyPoker Big Game IV
April 4, 2010 10:42 amFollowing last week’s announcement of Isildur1’s imminent live appearance at the PartyPoker Big Game IV, the high-stakes poker cash game has just benefited from another top poker draw in the guise of Dusty “Leatherass” Schmidt.
Schmidt was originally a talented amateur golfer, who turned to playing online cash poker five years ago, after suffering a heart attack. He has since played around 7 million hands of up to 25/50 NL, won over $3 million playing as many as 20 tables a time and has yet to suffer a losing month.
The author of the best selling poker book ‘Treat Your Poker Like A Business’ will now be joining a lineup at the PartyPoker Big Game IV, which includes Isildur1, Tony G, Phil Laak, Jennifer Tilly, Luke “Full Flush” Schwartz, Isaac Haxton, Neil Channing, Laurence Grondin with more big names expected to follow.
Commenting on his upcoming appearance at the Les Ambassadeurs Club in London from April 11th to 13th, Schmidt commented: “It just got a lot more exciting with Isildur1. I was obviously excited to go on the show no matter what. Being a part of Team PokerStars Online and being more mainstream have caused me to become more inspired to play in live events. This is the first event I’ve done away from online and to do it against Isildur1 is pretty exciting.”
The ‘Drag the Bar’ instructor will now be hoping to make his mark and come away with a profit at the 48-hour high stakes cash game, where every two hours a player is voted off by his peers to be replaced by a new face. Looking for an edge in the game, poker pro Dusty Schmidt said:
“When I’m playing 15 tables, I resort to default play, so I think I might be a little underestimated because I tend to play more straightforward. To have the chance to play one table will be fun and I’ll be able to take my time. I’m excited to have that opportunity.”
