Chris Moorman Passes $13M in iPoker Tournament Winnings
February 16, 2016 3:09 pmEach year winning at online poker becomes increasingly more difficult as the talents of those players taking part in the game become ever more sophisticated and skillful. In the meantime, one online pro who seems to be unaffected by changing trends and whose results shows no signs of abating is British professional poker player Chris Moorman.
The 30 year-old pro first started playing poker whilst studying for an economics degree at Essex University, and after graduating he then became a full-time online tournament specialist. Over the past few years, Moorman has since become the most consistent player on the online circuit, and has now further consolidated his title as the world’s biggest online poker tournament winner after surpassing $13 million in winnings.
Chris Moorman achieved this latest feat after entering the 888 Poker $100K Sunday Challenge, and eventually triumphing over its 777 player field to walk away with a top prize of $18,809. Commenting on events leading up to his latest milestone, Moorman explained:
“I was close — about $50,000 away for a while — and it was [the Turbo Championship of Online Poker] and a chance to get a big score, but I kept missing out so it was nice to go over the line with a win rather than just a min-cash or something like that.”
It was just two-and-a-half-year ago that Chris Moorman became online poker’s first person to reach $10 million in tournament winnings. In addition to now boosting those earnings to more than $13 million, the UK pro also boasts a record 25 Triple Crowns, placing him four Triple Crowns in front of Nicholas “PokerKaiser” Fierro, and $4 million ahead of nearest rival P0cket00. Commenting on his attitude towards the various milestones and records, Moorman explains:
“It’s just little targets to keep me motivated when I play online because obviously I’ve played online for years, so I need set myself goals or else it becomes sort of a bit boring and mundane.” Moorman also added, “I’d like to win something big, like the [Spring Championship of Online Poker] Main Event or something. That would help.”
