Antoine Saout Flying The Flag For Everest Poker
August 11, 2009 9:22 amAntoine Saout has just been recruited by Everest Poker who are keen to see the ‘November Nine’ qualifier represent their online poker site at the 2009 WSOP. Antoine’s story is all the more impressive as he was able to qualifiy for the tournament via a $50 satellite on Everest Poker, where he had been playing since 2008 as “Tonio92.”
The 25 year old Frenchman from Saint Martin des Champs has only been playing poker seriously for 18 months before which he was at college studying engineering. It seems like that decision has been generously rewarded as he is already guaranteed $1.25 million for having made it to the final table of this years WSOP, has a shot at the $8.5 million first prize and bracelet, and now has a contract with Everest Poker. He also receives a share of the $1 million which was guaranteed by Everest for any of their members who qualified for the WSOP through their site. Another 50 players were able to do this and so receive around $19,000 each.
Antoine can now look forward to joining a team of well rounded professionals on the site which include Cristiano Blanco, Voitto Rintala, Maria Maceiras, Steven van Zadelhoff, and Kim Wooka. Everest differs from many other online poker sites in that it chooses to sponsor players who are rising up the ranks and beginning to make a name for themselves, as opposed to signing already established professionals such as at Full Tilt Poker and Antoine certainly falls into Everest’s remit in that regard.
Everest’s Poker Director, Sandrine Mangia-Park said: “France is where Everest Poker first launched and to have a French player on the final table who qualified with us is very exciting. He joins an increasingly well respected team of real poker players who all support each other in the biggest tournaments around the world.”
Antoine Saout along with James Akenhead, are the only two non Americans at the table, and with both lying in 8th and 9th place respectively will be hoping for a good start at the final table when it reconvenes on November the 7th.
