Ourgame Obtains Rights To WPT Brand Throughout Asia

Ourgame Obtains Rights To WPT Brand Throughout AsiaThe World Poker Tour has taken a significant step forward in consolidating its product in the Asian market, after signing an exclusive seven-year deal with Ourgame International. As part of the promotional and licensing agreement, Ourgame has been granted the right to use the WPT trademark and logo in a number of important markets across Asia, including China, Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand.
In the past, the WPT and Ourgame have partnered up together to present the WPT National China poker tournament, and commenting on the two companies’ latest collaboration, WPT President Adam Pliska said:
“The World Poker Tour has worked hard to expand its footprint throughout Asian territories over the last few years with much success. A big part of this success was based on our strong working partnership with Ourgame, who established WPT National China at MGM Grand Sanya. By working with Ourgame to expand the WPT brand in Asia, we are assuring that the recent strong growth of the WPT in the region will continue for many years to come.”
Asia, and in particular China, is seen as an increasingly important market in providing future growth for the poker industry, and the WPT has gone to great lengths to ingrain its brand throughout the region. Back in 2007, for instance, the WPT was granted a license to televise the National Tractor Poker Tournament, which showcased  a popular Chinese gambling card game called tractor poker. By 2012, the China Leisure Sports Administration subsequently awarded the WPT a license to change its format to include no-limit hold’em tournaments, with the agreement now having been in place for three years. Commenting on their now exclusive World Poker Tour deal, Ourgame CEO Frank Ng, stated:
“As China’s leading card and board game platform, we are very pleased to have found a great global partner in the World Poker Tour, as we start to expand from China to Asia.. The WPT’s brand and global experience will be a significant asset to us as we expand overseas, and we have every confidence that we will together achieve much more success in Asia.”
